This released in September and I've been listening to it regularly ever since. "Rack" is The Jesus Lizard's first offering in 26 years!! The foremost thing to mention is how utterly ferocious this offering is and how it seems like The Jesus Lizard never disbanded. Every last moment of Rack see's this band doing what they do as only they can. Still post punk, still raw, David Yow still has that vibe of someone duct-taped and thrown into the trunk of a car and madly screaming and yelling in both fear and anger. David Sims still innovates with his bass guitar styling- at once a foundation for the songs and also an entity in an of itself subject to incredible tangents and solo's. Mac's skin beating is more powerful than ever and Duane's guitar is unmistakable; YOU KNOW it's the Jesus Lizard because his guitar tells you it is.
I'm completely biased. The Jesus Lizard has been my favorite live band since first seeing them in the 90's. I hope Rack isn't simply a one-off and that there will be many more albums in their future. If Rack is a swansong, it is an exclamation mark of inspiration and integrity. You are never too old, never too drunk, never too out of shape to be unable to tap into what makes you, unmistakably YOU. So much love for this album and band. Favorite track: Alexis Feels Sick
I will quote Ipecac Recordings final line in their Rack description:
"They might not be young, but they will never, ever get fucking old."
5/5

Dälek - Spiritual Healing
This group physically upsets my partner. Live they made her feel so sick we had to leave the show.
